Liverpool could be without Daniel Sturridge for Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final
The England international withdrew from the squad ahead on the Premier League tie at Anfield after feeling the effects of a knock suffered against Blackburn last week.
Sturridge's injury concern had not been made public, but asked about the problem prior to the Magpies meeting, Reds manager Brendan Rodgers told
"We will see how he goes the rest of the week for the semi-final at the weekend."
Sturridge has endured an injury-hit campaign and returned from a near five-month lay-off in January.
Mamadou Sakho was also injured in the FA Cup sixth round replay win at Ewood Park and could be out for up to a month, according to reports.
Liverpool have not commented on the extent of Sakho's hamstring injury but it is understood he could be out for up to four weeks.
The 25-year-old Frenchman was forced off in the first half at Blackburn and had already been ruled out of the Newcastle game.
He could also now miss the Villa tie as well as Premier League
However, it is believed Liverpool are hoping the 25-year-old will be back in time for their crucial trip to Chelsea on May 10, as Rodgers’ side continue their quest for a top four finish.
