Target: Newcastle hope to do a deal for Aubameyang
Elsewhere, Pardew is also believed to have had initial talks rejected by Lorient for their journeyman striker Aliadiere and Ajax for Dutch star De Jong.
Both players are expected to be subject of further attention, but the early suggestions are that they will be staying put this month.
Newcastle do though have better luck when it comes to another two of their targets – defenders Yanga-Mbiwa and Haidara.
According to reports in France, Yanga-Mbiwa is willing to leave Montpellier for a large weekly wage, while Nancy are up for flogging full-back Haidara, who has been extensively scouted this season.
Yanga-Mbiwa is likely to be subject of a bid if captain Fabricio Coloccini is granted the right to return to Argentina following a meeting with his agent scheduled for tomorrow.
