Moussa Sissoko could be on his way to Villa Park
Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert is set to turn to Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko to plug the gaping hole in his side’s midfield as they fight against relegation – and pip Sunderland to his signature in the process.
Villa are one of just seven clubs to have played in the Premier League in every season since its inception in 1992, but are among the favourites for the drop after slipping into the bottom three following a home defeat to relegation rivals Southampton on Saturday.
And while Lambert yesterday admitted he does not expect club owner Randy Lerner to spend big in January, it appears the former Norwich boss has his eye on Sissoko, who is also being targeted by ex-Villa manager Martin O’Neill at Sunderland.
