Sign me up: Alan Pardew is on the phone trying to sign new players
Newcastle United look set to splash the cash after making enquiries into deals for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Jeremie Aliadiere, Siem de Jong, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa and Massadio Haidara.
The news comes with the Magpies still reeling at missing out on top target Loic Remy, who as Metro revealed last week, had been in advanced negotiations over an £8million switch.
However, that transfer collapsed yesterday, when QPR stepped in and offered Remy an £60,000-a-week five-year-deal, which the 26-year-old has accepted.
But manager Alan Pardew is still working on bringing in several new players, and has turned to Saint-Etienne striker Abubameyang as an alternative.
It is understood that Newcastle are willing to pay up to £7million to land the Gabon hitman, and low level negotiations have already begun over a possible deal.
