ARSENAL have shaved over £400,000-a-week off their wage bill this summer by getting rid of six players.

Aaron Ramsey, Denis Suarez, Danny Welbeck, Petr Cech, David Ospina and Stephan Lichtsteiner have all left the Emirates.

Unai Emery has just £45m to spend on transfers this summer following the club's failure to qualify for the Champions League.

But the boss has managed to recoup some funds by getting some of the club's biggest earners off the payroll.

Petr Cech, 37, who pocketed £100,000-per-week, hung up his gloves at the end of the season before returning to Chelsea.

Denis Suarez failed to justify his £55,000-per-week wages in North London and has returned to Barcelona.

In April it was reported that the 25-year-old had cost Arsenal £840,000 in wages but failed to have a shot or create a chance in the league.

Danny Welbeck, 28, has ended his five year spell in North London when his contract expired at the end of the season.

The English striker, who scored five goals last term, was earning £70,000-a-week with the Gunners.

Napoli-bound David Ospina, 30, was on £40,000-per-week - which was £5,000 more than Stephan Lichtensteiner.

In total, the six players leaving has reduced their payroll by a whopping £410,000-per-week.

Mesut Ozil remains as the club's highest earner with his incredible £350,000-a-week deal.

Arsenal's annual wage bill sits just above £200m - which is still less than Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United.
