LIVERPOOL are at risk of losing Mohamed Salah if they fail to win the Premier League this season, according to former Reds striker Emile Heskey.

Liverpool take on West Ham at the London Stadium on Monday night as they look to re-establish a five point lead over Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently two points clear of City after the reigning champions beat Arsenal 3-1 at the Etihad on Sunday afternoon.

Emile Heskey, who was once Liverpool’s £11million record signing, exclusively told Express Sport that Egyptian talisman Salah could leave the club if they fail to win major silverware this season.

“There’s always that risk [of players wanting to leave],” Heskey said, when asked about Salah after completing the fifth annual Cancer Research UK London Winter Run.

Ex-England man Heskey, who played 62 times for his country, thinks that although Salah may be tempted to seek pastures new in order to win a major competition, a big factor in keeping him at Anfield would be their passionate support.

“The relationship between the players and the Liverpool fans is such that they always want to give the league another go," Heskey claimed.

“I’m not saying that they [Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane] wouldn’t go, but there is plenty of reason for them to stay.”

Liverpool travel to London on the back of a disappointing home draw with Leicester, however Heskey is confident that his former side will bounce back to claim all three points.

He said: “I definitely think they can go and win at West Ham.

“When you look at years gone by Liverpool lost games like the Leicester one, but they’ve got a stronger mentality now where they can claim points when they’re not particularly playing great.

"That’s what I’m liking at the minute, mentally they’re in a better place than they’ve ever been.”

The away side will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez, with the latter recently undergoing surgery on his fractured leg.

“Gomez has been a miss, him and Virgil Van Dijk were starting to form a great partnership,” Heskey said of the 21-year-old.

“Gomez being such a young lad, and having senior pros around him is great but Joel Matip has come in and been good, he’s doing a reasonable job.”

Although Klopp will be without two of his key performers, the German will be brimming with confidence in the knowledge that Liverpool have scored four goals in each of their last four fixtures against the Hammers.

West Ham are in poor form ahead of the showdown with Liverpool having lost three games on the spin in all competitions.
