Man Utd boss Solskjaer rules out Pereira loan move

Manchester United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has ruled out a January departure for Brazil midfielder Andreas Pereira.

Pereira, 23, has sat on the periphery of first-team action this season, starting just two Premier League matches and mustering only 175 minutes of action.

Could Pereira leave Man Utd? Five key things to know…
1. Pereira joined the club's youth ranks from PSV Eindhoven in 2011.
2. Since then, he has enjoyed successful loans spells with Granada in 2016/17 and Valencia last term.
3. Such was his form at the Mestalla that United fans were hopeful of a breakthrough this campaign.
4. Former manager Jose Mourinho started the midfielder in their league opener against Leicester but the Brazil international has hardly featured since.
5. Pereira's contract expires in the summer, and although he has the option of a further year, he may reject the extension in order to seek regular football elsewhere.

Since Solskjaer's appointment, the one-time Brazil international has featured just three times and rumours of a winter departure have been mooted around Old Trafford.

However, the Norwegian has poured cold water on speculation linking Pereira with a temporary move away from Old Trafford, insisting he wants to keep everyone at the club come deadline day on Thursday.

"I can't see him going out on loan, because Andreas has done fantastic in training ever since I've come back," he said (via Four Four Two).

"I've kept in touch with Warren [Joyce, former United reserves coach], who had him in the reserves, so I know about Andreas.

"He's a player I can see playing quite a few games for us towards the end of the season. At the moment I can see everyone staying at the club."

Solskjaer was speaking ahead of his side's crunch clash against Burnley tonight, with the interim coach looking to win nine matches out of nine since taking the helm last month.

"I'm here to prepare for next season"
Despite only stepping in to steady the ship and see United through until the end of the season, Solskjaer has produced wonders during his short tenure.

The 45-year-old has won eight matches on the bounce and has masterminded victories against Spurs and Arsenal in the league and FA Cup respectively.

As such, the former striker has now been tipped to make his reign a permanent one in the summer, should he continue in his current rich vein of form.

But it is not just results that have swung the pendulum in Solskjaer's favour; his more attack-based style of play as well as his trust in academy products has seen him garner plaudits from all quarters of Old Trafford.

Starlets Angel Gomes and Tahith Chong have both featured since Solskjaer took control, and he insists that he will continue to nurture and blood in the talented tyros for the future of United.

"We have quite a few talents in that youth team that you'd like to see – and will see – at some point before next season to put the club and team in a good position at the end of the season," he added.

"With or without me, it doesn't matter, I'm here to prepare for next season."
