Manchester City fans criticise Gabriel Jesus after Shakhtar

Manchester City vs Shakhtar Donetsk

Manchester City took on Shakhtar Donetsk this evening in their third Champions League game of the season.

City headed into this game 2nd in Group F.

Man City's previous two Champions League games this season had seen them beat German outfit Hoffenheim but lose to Ligue 1 side, Lyon.

Despite losing to Lyon, City were in great form heading into the clash with Shakhtar.

Manchester City are currently joint top of the Premier League along with Liverpool and their last game saw them beat Burnley 5-0.

Shakhtar, on the other hand, had drawn their previous two UCL games this season.

The Ukrainian side also top their league having won 10, drawn one and lost one this season.

Gabriel Jesus is poor vs Shakhtar

From pretty much the first minute of the game Manchester City would control the game.

In the first half, City would have the lion share of possession and amass 15 goal attempts.

However, it would take until, the 30th minute for David Silva to give City the lead.

Aymeric Laporte would double Man City's lead in the  35th minute thanks to a Kevin De Bruyne assist.

However, City could have easily been four or five up at half-time.

One of the biggest reasons they were not was because of the poor display of Gabriel Jesus.

Jesus started as City's only striker today with Sergio Aguero on the bench.

But Jesus would miss countless chances in the first half and his overall display was generally poor.

David Silva plays in Gabriel Jesus with a sweet pass and Pyatov is quick out to deny the Brazilian, who seems to hesitate a little.

The second half would be much the same for Jesus as he failed to find the net.

City, however, would add a third through Bernardo Silva.

Jesus would also be subbed off for Phil Foden in the 88th minute.

As a result, many City fans took to Twitter to voice their displeasure at Jesus vs Shakhtar.
