Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has claimed that the double fracture he suffered in September 2015 almost cost him his leg.
PSV Eindhoven defender Hector Moreno's tackle, 20 minutes into the first game of the Champions League campaign, saw the Englishman sidelined for 327 days.
"I'd be lying if I said I didn't sometimes think about stopping playing football," he told the press conference.
"I had a lot of good people around me, friends and family, who helped me through it.
"At the time, they were thinking about flying me back, but If I'd flown back, I would probably have lost my leg because of the blood clots.
"I was really close to losing my leg and I didn't know that until six months later when the doctor told me."
He made his comeback in the Community Shield final, before being called up for England in March 2017 to play a friendly game against Germany.
Jose Mourinho didn't consider him as a starter, but Shaw has managed to recover his form and after some impressive performances this season, he has been called to join the English national team.
