The psychologist, who specialises in sex, says that players who give themselves a hand will be more relaxed and less stressed than those who abstain.
Pre-game celibacy is common in sport with many athletes believing that having a bit of nookie before kick-off can make them lose their edge on the pitch.
But in her book "Manuel of Seduction" Dr Ribeiro argues that regular hand relief is an invaluable stress reliever.
The book states that "nothing positive can come from abstinence."

She told Portuguese TV: "The football player should not abstain from having sex before games, but we also know that in terms of routine they are not in contact with families either.
"We cannot associate sports performance with the occurrence of sex."
Patricio will be in the in the number 1 jersey for Portugal in Russia as the team look to emulate their neighbours in Spain by winning back to back tournaments.
Ronaldo and the boys walloped Algeria 3-0 last night in their final World Cup warm up game before heading east for the tournament.
Portugal's first cup clash will be against Spain in Sochi on June 15.
The game will be shown on the BBC at 7pm on the second day of the tournament.
England's first tournament fixture will be three days later against Tunisia at the same time on Monday June 18.
