Supporters have turned Kiev red as the atmosphere builds before Saturday's clash with Real Madrid.

Former Reds legend Jason McAteer posted a picture of him in the Ukrainian capital.

Republic of Ireland and Liverpool star Jason — who made 100 appearances for the Anfield club — tweeted: "Can't wait for Saturday. Kiev is some city full of beautiful sights #lfc".

But it was Jason's outfit and not his words that made an impact.

Wearing a fetching pair of baggy beige shorts and flip flops, fans were quick to laugh at his bold fashion statement.

Reds fan Lewis wrote: "Lad what are those shorts".

While Phil tweeted: "Eeeeee them flipflops".

Pictures show Liverpool fans getting the party started in Kiev ahead of the Champions League final, taking their shirts off and sinking pints in outdoor beer gardens.

And with beer just £1 a pint in the city, who can blame them?

Liverpool legend and broadcaster Stan Collymore was seen taking selfies with supporters in the streets.

Earlier Stan tweeted: "Liverpool fans outnumbering Real Madrid fans 10-1 in the city".

Last night hundreds of Reds fans' travel plans were thrown into chaos after flights to the Ukrainian capital were cancelled at the last minute — despite the best efforts of Liverpool's mayor Joe Anderson and Kiev mayor and former boxing heavyweight champion of the world Vitali Klitschko.

Yesterday Liverpool players touched down in the capital, with one young fan giving star Mo Salah flowers.

Madrid fans have also been seen outside the team's hotel, some holding cutouts of talisman forward Christiano Ronaldo.

But last night the party atmosphere was ruined when a group of Ukrainian hooligans allegedly set upon a group of Liverpool fans having dinner.

Reds fans have been warned of Ukrainian neo-nazi ultras who may use hosting the final as an excuse to cause trouble.

Will this star be moving to Anfield in a sensational £60million swoop?
