JORDAN PICKFORD was sweating as Gareth Southgate prepares to name England's World Cup squad.

But that was down to the Barbados heat - with the Everton No 1 almost guaranteed to be one of the three keepers in Southgate's final 23.

Pickford soaked up some rays and took a dip in the sea with girlfriend Megan Davison at Sandy Lane beach on Tuesday.

The former Sunderland man, 24, is taking advantage of his time off before linking up with Southgate and the Three Lions players ahead of their trip to Russia this summer.

Pickford is set to vie with Stoke's Jack Butland to start England's first game against Tunisia on June 18, with Burnley keeper Nick Pope preferred to Joe Hart as third-choice.

SunSport revealed that Hart was told he would miss out in a face-to-face meeting with Southgate.

Hart was not expecting to be first choice but pals of the Manchester City player said he was "gutted" not to even be considered as back-up goalkeeper.

A close friend of Hart said: "He cannot believe he is not even going to be in the 23.
"The news was a real shock for Joe."

Hart has won 75 caps for his country and played at three major tournaments.

He hoped his experience would give him the edge over Pope.
