Liverpool's Sadio Mane writes to Man City's Ederson on social media

Liverpool's Sadio Mane sent off

It was a bad day at the office on Saturday for Liverpool and Sadio Mane.

Having beaten Arsenal 4-0 last time out, many predicted that Liverpool would win at Man City.

But that's not how the game panned out. Instead it was Man City who ran riot in the match, as the Sky Blues triumphed 5-0.

The complexion of the game changed late in the first half, as Sadio Mane was sent off.

Mane tried to reach a ball over the top, but the Liverpool forward only managed to take out Man City goalie Ederson.

Ederson, who took a kick to the face, was replaced by Claudio Bravo, while Mane is now facing a three match ban.

Mane is set to miss upcoming games against Burnley and Leicester twice (once in the league, once in the League Cup).

At the time of the incident, many questioned whether Mane should have been dismissed.

It seemed clear the Liverpool star was going for the ball, while there was no intent to hurt Ederson.

And yet, Mane's foot was arguably recklessly high, while the pain inflicted on Ederson was clear for everyone too see.

On Saturday night, Mane has taken to social media to reach out the to City stopper.

Mane posted the following message:

I hope and wish Ederson a quick recovery. I am so sorry he was hurt during our accidental collision on the pitch and am sorry for him that he could not complete the match because of it. I pray he heals fast and is back playing very soon because he is highest quality player
