Thibaut Courtois has apologised to Atletico Madrid fans after his Diego Costa Instagram post
Costa has been in AWOL at Chelsea after boss Antonio Conte told him he is not wanted by text message in the summer.
The Spanish striker has had his heart set on a move back to Atletico Madrid but following a transfer ban a move has failed to materialise.
Belgian keeper Courtois posted on Instagram a photo of him and Costa holding the Premier League trophy with the caption 'se queda' (he stays), spoofing Gerard Pique's similar message on social media before Neymar's move to Paris Saint-Germain.
But this has not sat well with Atletico fans, a club where Courtois spent two years on loan from Chelsea.
The 25-year-old has since apologised and told Radioestadio: "I apologise if I offended, I have a lot of appreciation and respect for the fans of Atletico Madrid."

Regarding Costa, the ex-Genk man took a more serious tone.
He said: "Diego Costa is in Brazil and as he is still a player of Chelsea, it is necessary to see what will he do and what will happen with him".
Chelsea have started their Premier League defence indifferently so far.
They lost their opening game in a shock defeat to Burnley at Stamford Bridge, but recovered well with impressive wins against Tottenham and Everton.
The Blues face Leicester on Saturday at the King Power Stadium.
