According to a number of breaking reports in the Italian media this evening, Premier League giants Mancehester United have made a bid worth 80 million Euro for Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez.
On the move
The knowledge that Rodriguez will depart the Bernabeu this summer has been widespread for some time now, with the fact that he was left out of Zinedine Zidane's matchday squad for the Champions League final versus Juventus on June 3rd only serving to affirm this point.
Destination
However, the one question that has remained unanswered is just where the Colombian talent will end up.
Jose Mourinho's Manchester United have long been touted as leading the chase for Rodriguez, though links had gone quiet over recent weeks after a move had looked a near-certainty.
With Italian sides AC Milan and Inter Milan having both reportedly joined the race for the 25-year-old in recent days, however, it seems as though the Old Trafford club have upped the ante.
Monumental bid
As per a report from Mediaset Premium, as well as multiple others across Italy, Manchester United look to have beaten off all competition for Rodriguez, having made a bid of 80 million Euro this evening.
Real's asking price was rumoured to be in the region of 75 million Euro, so, if tonight's news is confirmed as true, Jose Mourinho's side could be set for a huge signing over the coming days.
United are also said to be close to a deal for Blancos striker Alvaro Morata.
