The Uruguay international often played second fiddle to Ibrahimovic during their time together at the Parisians, and his goal return dropped off slightly as a result.
With the departure of the Swede to Manchester United during the off-season, Cavani is now once again scoring at nearly a goal a game for PSG. In 2016/17, he has fired in 38 strikes in 39 appearances playing in his preferred centre-forward role.
He told the club's official website how playing on the wing affected his form, saying: "I've worked very hard. I have made a lot of sacrifices over the past few years, notably by playing out wide.
"After three fantastic seasons with Napoli, playing my football along the touchline felt like a backwards step. Now, I'm playing in my position. I really love playing in front of goal - that's where I'm most at ease."
