Cristiano Ronaldo in show of unity with young striker suffering from cancer

A young footballer suffering from cancer has been given a morale boost in the way of a message from Cristiano Ronaldo.

Only signing for Portuguese side Boastiva in the summer, Edu Ferreira has since been diagnosed with the illness and will have to put his playing career on ice while he receives treatment, with the full support of the club.

Real Madrid forward Ronaldo has thrown his positivity behind the 19-year-old, too, sending a signed Portugal football shirt to Ferreira with a personal message as he fights cancer.
