Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney
Wayne Rooney is looking forward to his testimonial clash between Manchester United and Everton at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
The England skipper is set to celebrate what has been an outstanding career at the Red Devils so far against his boyhood club ahead of United’s clash against Leicester City in the Community Shield at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
Jose Mourinho will also get his first taste of a game at Old Trafford as United manager following the Portuguese’s appointment at the 20-time English champions earlier this summer following Louis van Gaal’s sacking.
Rooney has already received the backing of his new manager after the England skipper struggled like the rest of the Red Devils squad to perform under the Portuguese’s predecessor.
And the 30-year-old looks to be enjoying his football under Mourinho as the United captain expressed his excitement at the prospect of playing his testimonial game at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
Rooney posted the above photo on Instagram and wrote the following caption:
“All excited ready for the game tomorrow!!”
The England centre-forward scored eight times in 28 Premier League appearances for the 20-time English champions last term.
