John Terry has stepped up his bid to return to fitness before the end of the season by using a previously banned therapy.
The Chelsea captain has played only twice since mid-February after first injuring his hamstring and then damaging his Achilles tendon.
And Terry has embarked on a less common course of treatment in an attempt to speed up his recovery, with the 35-year-old undergoing platelet rich plasma therapy, which was forbidden by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) until 2011.

Platelet rich plasma therapy, widely known by its abbreviation of PRP, involves extracting platelets from the blood before reintroducing them into the patient, a process that can help the body heal quicker.
Terry posted a picture on Instagram of him in surgical scrubs about to receive an injection, alongside the caption "PRP. Being injured is the most frustrating thing as a player. Working hard to get back fit."
