Leicester City stopper Kasper Schmeichel last night won the 2015 Danish Footballer of the Year award.
Schmeichel won the award ahead of the Tottenham midfielder Christian Eriksen, who won the trophy for the previous three years.
It is the first time the keeper has won the trophy.
After winning the award, Schmeichel told the Danish audience:
Thank you to everyone who has believed in me. It’s a huge honor to be here. I had honestly not expected it.
Kasper’s dad Peter, the former Manchester United goalkeeper, reacted to his son’s achievement on social media.
Another ex-United stopper, Edwin van der Sar, also got in touch with Peter Schmeichel to predict that this won’t be the only award Kasper wins this season.
