Police arrested six PSV Eindhoven fans after the game against Atletico Madrid for public disorder, vehicle damage and for verbally assaulting several citizens whom they came across at the Puerta del Sol and in the surrounding areas.
The arrests were carried out after a group of Dutch fans left bars in the centre of the capital at around 23:30. Around 200 of them watched the game there after they were left without tickets for the match. They began to berate passers-by and strike vehicles, causing a variety of damage, as well as committing other acts of public disorder.
Calls for hate crimes prosecutors to act
The Movement against Intolerance organisation has called for hate crimes prosecutors to step in following acts of "racist humiliation" committed against homeless Romanian women in the Plaza Mayor by some of the PSV Eindhoven supporters in Madrid.
This group of fans hurled racist insults at the women, something which can be considered a criminal offence according to Movement against Intolerance.
