Bartomeu: "I'm Nobita because Messi is Doraemon. He fixes everything"

During an appearance on a special kids' version of Barcelona Televisio's La Porteria sports show, Josep Maria Bartomeu enjoyed a laugh about the fact that people have nicknamed him Nobita after a character in the Japanese cartoon Doraemon. He also made the most of the comparison to heap praise on Leo Messi.

Asked whether people calling him Nobita bothers him, he insisted that it doesn't, before light-heartedly adding: "When Barca played in the Club World Cup in Japan, the people there asked me why I get called Nobita and I told them that I must look like him a bit, I guess, or because at Barca we have a Doraemon, Messi, who sorts things out whenever there's a difficult situation, so that's why there's also a Nobita, who asks him to fix everything".

Bartomeu also answered a number of other questions from the children in attendance, including one about the legal sagas surrounding Neymar. The 'Azulgranas' president suggested in his response that all the trouble has been because "other clubs wanted to sign" the Brazilian but he chose to come to Barca.
