According to Italian media reports, Napoli player Lorenzo Insigne was mugged at gunpoint while driving through the streets of Naples on Saturday night. Two people drove up to the forward's car on a motorcycle and pointed a gun at him before making off with both cash and various valuables.
The Naples local was apparently driving with his wife and some friends after enjoying a meal at a restaurant.
The Italy international, whose team currently occupy the second spot in Serie A, is due to line up against Fiorentina on Monday night, as Napoli battle Juventus in the title race.
In recent years, several Napoli players, such as Marek Hamsik, Valon Behrami, Juan Zuniga, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani and their relatives have also suffered similar assaults.
