"I won the Champions League with Manchester United and I hardly talked to [Rio] Ferdinand, [Ryan] Giggs or [Paul] Scholes. We exchanged pleasantries and that was it. The dinners, the kisses and the hugs don't mean anything". These were some of Cristiano Ronaldo's words at his fiery press conference in the run-up to Real Madrid's Champions League game against Roma, when asked about Barca's 'three amigos', the MSN.
A few hours later, Ferdinand offered a light-hearted response to the Portuguese star's comments on BT Sport, for whom he now works as a pundit. "He's gone off me! He used to live next door to me. Unbelievable!", laughed the former United centre-back. Then, when Gary Lineker, the presenter, told Ferdinand that maybe he should have offered to cook for Ronaldo, Rio quipped, "He didn't like my cooking".
Ferdinand also shed light on some of the banter that Ronaldo was subjected to in the Old Trafford dressing room: "He used to come in tight jeans and we used to murder him. He didn't get it".
