THE top 20 richest football clubs in the world now earn an astonishing £5billion a year.

MINTED: Real Madrid and Barcelona are the first and second richest clubs in the world

And new figures show nine of the most minted clubs come from the Premier League.

Real Madrid top the rich list, with Lionel Messi’s Barcelona second and Manchester United dropping one place to third.

Manchester City are sixth, Liverpool ninth and West Ham have crept in at No20, the Deloitte report found.

The Premier League also boasts 17 of the top 30 richest clubs in the world.

But Football Supporters’ Federation chairman Malcolm Clarke claimed fans are being hung out to dry by the system.

He said: “The Premier League clubs have got money coming out of their ears and what we want to see is much more of that money being used to benefit fans by lowering ticket prices.”

The new report shows the combined wealth of the richest clubs soared by 8% in the past year.
