James faces driving ban and a fine

Controversy is never far from Real Madrid this season and 2016 kicked off with a series of events that are going to have a huge effect of James Rodríguez during the first six months of the year.

According to the police report, which MARCA was given access to, at about 17:45 on 1st January, officers observed a black Audi R8 driving so fast that they were unable to read the vehicle's licence plates. They first thought that the car had been stolen, and set off in pursuit, a high-speed chase that took them to the gates of Real Madrid's Valdebebas training ground.

James Rodríguez entered the training ground without stopping, something which the unmarked police car was forced to do at the security gate. After a brief chat, the police officers went in after the midfielder.

What is going to happen to James now?

What crime did he commit? James has been charged with speeding, dangerous driving and disobeying an officer of the law.

How will the matter be resolved? The police charges will land the Colombian player in court.

What punishment is he facing? He will more than likely receive a 6-month driving ban and be slapped with a fine.

Why was he not arrested at Valdebebas? The police did not consider him to be a flight risk.
