Buenos Aires metro station gets neat Messi facelift

Although it may not carry his name, there's no mistaking the fact that the main man at Buenos Aires' refurbished Jose Hernandez underground station is Lionel Messi. The pillars, stairs and walls of the underground stop sport the blue and white of the Argentina flag and images of 'La Pulga' are literally plastered all over the interior of the station.

Last weekend a statue of the Rosario-born ace was unveiled at the entrance to the underground, and several displays and screens featuring artwork dedicated to Messi decorate the interior. The 12,000- plus people who pass through the line D station each day will now be greeted by a landscape containing no shortage of footballs and plenty of words of inspiration.
