Albinos are a stigmatized group in Tanzania, subjected to misery and persecution. Some witch doctors pay as much as 1,700 euros for a leg, arm, heart or their genitals.

It is a savagery which afflicts Tanzania and other black African countries, perpetrated by witch doctors who ply their trade with potions prepared with albino body parts. They live in constant fear that they may be victims of this barbaric practice at any time, mercilessly mutilated in the street or their homes.

This brutality has found some respite in football, as described in the documentary 'Black Man, White Skin' by the Spaniard José Manuel Colón. The director reveals the horrifying reality suffered by these people in a documentary which is scooping up awards around the world. One of the moving stories revolves around Albinos United, a football team formed in 2011 composed entirely of albino players who, thanks to the sport, have managed to find social acceptance.

"We managed to get Real Madrid and Barcelona to agree to record this story. Human rights come before their rivalry and this football team are fighting for a place in society. Thanks to the sport, their opponents respect them. The shirts donated by the two biggest clubs in the world are a lifeline for them", explains Colón.
