Liverpool youngster Joao Teixeria posts selfie with midfielder Lazar Markovic on Instagram

Joao Teixeira appears to be enjoying pre-season after he posted a selfie on Instagram with fellow midfielder Lazar Markovic.

The Portuguese midfielder has slipped under the radar at Anfield following a string of frustrating long-term injuries but he is now enjoying pre-season with Liverpool.

Teixeira was signed by Liverpool in 2012 after a scintillating performance against the Reds in a NextGen match for his former club Sporting Lisbon.

However, a crippling back injury halted his progress at the club and he was made to wear a support brace for six months following his arrival in England.

Teixeira recovered and has since spent time on loan at Brentford and Brighton.

The attacking midfielder, who has been compared to Brazilian legend Kaka, excelled for Brighton last season.

He was the club’s young player of the year and finished the campaign with six league goals before breaking his leg in a match against Huddersfield last April.

Teixeira returned from injury and has impressed during Liverpool’s pre-season tour as the youngster claimed two assists against the Thai All Stars.
