The Liverpool Echo have reported a lovely, heart-warming story this weekend, showing how the Benitez family remains close to the people of Liverpool.
Now the new Real Madrid coach, Rafa Benitez managed Liverpool from 2004–2010, during which time he lead the Reds to victory in the Champions League, as well as winning one FA Cup.
Benitez remains a legend at Anfield, and now his wife, Montse Benitez, has found herself receiving a ton of lovely messages after she donated a significant sum to a local charity.
Montse Benitez has donated £11,500 to send kids from Liverpool to Disneyland for a once in a lifetime trip.
A representative of the charity told the Liverpool Echo:
She’s paid for the children to travel on two executive coaches, their travel insurance, a packed lunch for each of them and £20 each to spend on toys or merchandise.
The children were extremely delighted and I was absolutely shell-shocked. She has helped the children no end and the children call her the ‘Angel of Kindness’.
Liverpool and Real Madrid have both been in action over the weekend in pre-season.
The Reds picked up a win in Australia on Friday, as they beat the Brisbane Roar 2-1 courtesy of goals from Adam Lallana and James Milner.
As for Real Madrid, they lost a penalty shootout to AS Roma on Saturday, after they drew 0-0 in the International Champions Cup.
