FOOTBALL superstars are more known for lavishly splashing the cash – but one humble Premier League player has proved they can be generous.
GENEROUS: Mesut Ozil will pay for 11 more sick children to have surgery in Brazil
Arsenal's World Cup winning attacker Mesut Özil has paid for 11 more Brazilian children to have life-changing operations.
Germany's Football Association confirmed the 26-year-old will provide cash for the stricken children as part of his work with the Mesut Özil Foundation.
It is part of his pledge to help young kids afford emergency healthcare.
Named 'Ozil's Eleven', the youngsters will undergo surgery between October 24 and November 7 in Maranhao, Brazil.
Last year he revealed he would be funding 23 suffering children to undergo surgery after Germany won football's biggest prize in Brazil.
His charity work helped him win the Laureus award.
Ozil, who signed for Arsenal for a record-breaking .. in 2013, said on the DFB website: "Even one year after we won the World Cup, I want to continue to leave a positive mark in Brazil by financing eleven more children's operations.
"For me it's very important that I carry on providing help for the children of Brazil."
Ozil's not the only professional footballer to put his fortune to good use.
Fulham and Wales star Jazz Richards paid out £1,000 to help buy a headstone for Swansea City fan Josh Maddick, who was found dead in woodland aged 22.
Richards, a former Swansea City player, was contacted by the family following Josh's death.
Bournemouth's Tyrone Mings paid of his mum's debts in April this year.
