One year ago Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil received the Laureas Award after paying for 23 Brazilian children to have life saving operations.

On Friday, the German National Team confirmed that Mesut Ozil had paid for 11 more Brazilian children – "Ozil’s Eleven" – to have operations between the 24th October and 7th November 2015 at a hospital in Coroata.

Without Ozil’s kind donations, the families of the young Brazilians would be unable to afford the necessary operations.

The 26 year old Arsenal record signing confirmed the "Mesut Ozil Foundation’s" latest work in South America to the official DFB website.

Formerly of Real Madrid, the World Cup winning midfielder admitted that he wants to continue helping the Brazilian people.

"Even one year after we won the World Cup, I want to continue to leave a positive mark in Brazil by financing eleven more children’s operations," said Özil.

"For me it’s very important that I carry on providing help for the children of Brazil."

What a mensch!
