BUDAPEST, Hungary -- Three players from the Greek national team were slightly injured when their taxi crashed on its way to the airport in Budapest on Monday morning.
Vangelis Moras, Panagiotis Tachtsidis and Ioannis Fetfatzidis were injured in a collision with another car. Moras and Tachtsidis have already been released from a Budapest hospital while Fetfatzidis was expected to be released later on Monday.
Nikolaos Vlahakis, the press counselor from the Greek embassy in Budapest, said the crash was "quite hard" but the players' injuries were not serious. Police say one person in the other car died at the scene of the accident.
The Greek Football Federation said team manager Vangelis Macheiras was on his way to Budapest to visit the players.
It added that Moras and Tachtsidis had already returned to the hotel used by the Greek team, while Fetfatzidis remained hospitalised as a precaution.
Moras and Tachtsidis play for Hellas Verona in Italy, while Fetfatzidis plays for Serie A rival Chievo Verona.
Greece and Hungary drew 0-0 on Sunday in a qualifying match for the 2016 European Championship.
