Barcelona player Gerard Pique has become the Laureus Foundation's latest ambassador.
Pique will help with a variety of projects which support disadvantaged young people and children through sport.
The Catalan central defender and the president of the organisation in Spain, Gabriel Masfurroll, have signed an agreement making Pique part of a group of sportsmen and women who represent the Foundation in Spain.
"I am very familiar with the great work that the Laureus Foundation does worldwide, improving the lives of millions of young people. I am delighted to be a Laureus Ambassador and I will do everything I can to support them in their cause", enthused the player in comments published in a statement by the 'Azulgranas'.
The aforementioned network of ambassadors is made up of a group of sports personalities and organisations that, through the recognition of what they've achieved and/or their contribution to the community, lend their experience to the Laureus Foundation's social action programme.
It is no wonder then that Gabriel Masfurroll declared it a "privilege" to work with "a great sportsman" like Gerard Pique.
