The Preston left-back gets a cheeky bonus for giving Manchester United a scare
Scott Laird picked up a goal bonus after he scored against Manchester United last night - although it is almost certainly less than Radamel Falcao would have received had he managed to score.
The Preston left-back found the back of the net during the FA Cup tie at Deepdale to put the home side ahead and give Manchester United a scare. However, the League One side were unable to stay in front of their more illustrious opponents and ended up being beaten 3-1 by Louis van Gaal's side.
Yet despite defeat and an exit from the FA Cup, Laird was delighted to have scored against the world famous team, plus he had an extra reason to be cheery.
The 26-year-old revealed that a long-running tradition would mean he would be receiving £1 from his grandma thanks to his goal.
"Every time we scored as kids, she used to give me and my brothers a pound," he told BBC Somerset.
"Even though I'm 26 now, I still carry that tradition on."

Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao
The goal bonus figure is in stark contrast to the rewards to be found at the top level of football. Falcao, currently on loan from Monaco, is reportedly on wages of £300,000-a-week. That means he earns £1 every two seconds (even when he's asleep).
"She was the first person I rang last night and I said 'I want that pound'", added Laird.
"I tried saying I wanted a bit more because it was against Manchester United, but she says that wasn't in the contract."
"It's something I'll be going on with until the end of my career."
