Blackburn Rovers vs Wigan Athletic preview - Rovers hopeful on Gestede

Blackburn are hopeful Rudy Gestede can partner Jordan Rhodes in attack against Wigan at Ewood Park.

Gestede missed the defeat to Wolves because of an ankle problem, yet he trained on Thursday and reported no ill effects on his problem area.

Chris Brown, still yet to appear for Blackburn since his summer move, will miss out having undergone surgery on a knee problem while full-back Tommy Spurr (groin) is some way off a return.

Deadline day signings Shane Duffy, Ryan Tunnicliffe and Jason Steele are all available, as is speedy winger Josh King following his illness.

Wigan's ranks have been swelled by the three players they signed on deadline day and they all trained this week ahead of their potential debuts.

Striker Andy Delort, signed from French side FC Tours, midfielder Adam Forshaw, acquired from Brentford, and Denmark international William Kvist will all hope to earn a starting berth from Uwe Rosler.

And the German has also reported that winger James McClean is back in contention too, with an ankle injury having kept him sidelined throughout the season's embryonic stages.

Midfield pair Ben Watson (broken leg) and Chris McCann (knee) remain absent, though.
