Newport County vs Cambridge United preview - Zebroski back in County frame
Posted Sunday, September 07, 2014 by PA
Chris Zebroski could be involved for Newport's clash with Cambridge.
The striker has recovered from a groin strain in time to be involved in the fixture that was put back to Monday due to the presence of Nato in the city this week.
Zebroski's return will ease the absence of Rene Howe, who will be sidelined for the majority of the campaign having had thigh surgery.
However, Zebroski will be forced to watch on from the bench if boss Justin Edinburgh sticks with the side that beat Portsmouth 1-0 in the Exiles' last outing - their first win of the campaign.
Cambridge will need to replace Tom Champion, who has been ruled out for up to eight weeks with a broken cheekbone.
Liam Hughes or Issa Diallo could be asked to play the holding role in midfield in the captain's absence, while the versatile Harrison Dunk is available having recovered from a hamstring injury.
Ryan Bird may make his second debut after signing a one-year deal with the club last week.
The striker scored nine goals in 13 appearances during a loan spell with the U's last season and will look to make an instant impression having joined permanently following his release from Portsmouth.
