Burton Albion FC vs Portsmouth preview - Weir cleared for Pompey clash
Posted Saturday, September 06, 2014 by PA
Burton midfielder Robbie Weir has been given the all-clear to face Portsmouth.
Weir was sent off for an alleged headbutt late on in last weekend's clash at Mansfield but has had his three-match ban overturned by the FA on appeal.
Winger Lucas Akins is available after fully recovering from a broken hand but he has been told he faces a fight to get his place back.
The table-topping Brewers have won both games in Akins' absence and boss Gary Rowett has hinted he will stick with the side that beat the Stags last time out.
Nigel Atangana is expected to miss out for Pompey after injuring his hamstring against Yeovil on Tuesday.
But boss Andy Awford's injury problems are clearing up with defenders Ben Chorley (dead leg) and Joe Devera (neck) set to be available after missing out at Huish Park.
Jack Whatmough is back in training after an ankle injury and Patrick Agyemang was fit enough to make his first appearance of the season as a substitute in midweek after a hamstring tear.
Back-up goalkeeper Michael Poke is also fit after an Achilles problem but Danny East (groin), Tom Craddock and Wes Fogden (both knee) remain sidelined.
