Oldham Athletic AFC vs Gillingham preview - Forte doubt for Latics

Oldham's top scorer Jonathan Forte is rated 50-50 to face Gillingham.

Forte, who has scored five times already this season during a blistering start to his Latics career, is back training after coming off against Fleetwood due to a thigh strain.

Captain Adam Lockwood is still around a month away from coming back into the fold from his foot problem, but Lee Johnson's men have kept three clean sheets in a row in his absence.

Midfielder Michael Tidser is still lacking "match sharpness", according to Johnson, while Genseric Kusunga could return following international duty with Angola.

Danny Kedwell could feature for Gillingham after the club opted against sending the striker for knee surgery which would have kept him out for five months.

Having scored in four straight League One matches, the 31-year-old picked up the problem in last month's win over Crewe and has since missed games against Stevenage and Coventry.

"We have decided not to go with the five-month option," Peter Taylor told the club website. "If he is swollen after one hard session, or one hard game, and then can't train for two or three days, then we are going to have to scrape off the cartilage, which will put him out for two to three weeks."

Taylor is also monitoring the situation with Doug Loft's Achilles injury but reports he has a good chance of returning to the squad this weekend.
