Barcelona have announced that they have reached an agreement in principle to sign right-back Douglas Pereira from São Paulo for an initial €4 million plus up to €1.5m in appearance-based add-ons.
The 24-year-old will travel to the Catalan capital over the next few days to undergo a medical, put pen to paper on a five-year contract and be unveiled at the Camp Nou. The pacy Brazilian, who has apparently been on Barcelona's radar for some time, will provide further cover at right-back for the 'Azulgranas', who already have Martín Montoya and Dani Alves in the position.
Assuming everything goes smoothly, the deal will be the latest completed by Barça while the threat of FIFA's transfer ban looms. In theory, once the current transfer window closes, the Catalan giants will be unable to sign players until summer 2016, although this will depend on how the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rules on the club's appeal.
