Charlton vs Derby preview - Henderson blow for Addicks

Posted Tuesday, August 19, 2014 by PA

Charlton goalkeeper Stephen Henderson is set to miss the visit of Derby.

Henderson suffered a hamstring injury during Saturday's 2-1 win over Wigan and was replaced by youngster Nick Pope, who is now in line to make his first senior start for the Addicks.

Winger Franck Moussa is also pushing to make his full league debut after climbing off the bench to hit the injury-time winner at the weekend.

The Addicks have no other injury concerns but right-back Chris Solly could drop out if boss Bob Peeters decides two matches in three days is too much for his knee.

Derby should have an unchanged squad for the trip to the capital.

Omar Mascarell is knocking on the door to make a first start for the Rams after making an impact in his two substitute appearances against Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday.

The 21-year-old midfielder, on loan from Real Madrid, is vying for the holding role in front of the defence along with Will Hughes and John Eustace as George Thorne (knee) is a long-term injury absentee.

Steve McClaren is expected to name an unchanged back-line but Johnny Russell and Leon Best are options up front should the Derby head coach wish to freshen up his strikeforce after drawing a blank in the goalless draw at Hillsborough on Saturday.
