Blackpool vs Brentford preview - Ranger set for Seasiders bow

Posted Tuesday, August 19, 2014 by PA

Troubled striker Nile Ranger is in line for his Blackpool bow against Brentford at Bloomfield Road.

Ranger, released by both Newcastle and Swindon during his career, was registered in time for Saturday's loss to Blackburn but only trained with his team-mates for the first time on Monday morning.

Winger Edu Oriol will need international clearance to be a part of the squad after signing on Monday, linking up with twin brother Joan Oriol in Blackpool.

A lack of pre-season games mean unfit midfield pair Andrea Orlandi and Jacob Mellis may struggle to start.

Adam Forshaw will again be missing from the Brentford squad despite returning to fitness.

The midfielder has yet to play this season having been unsettled by reported interest from Wigan, but he has now recovered from a summer ankle op and boss Mark Warburton will play him in the reserves against Crewe on Wednesday.

Full-back Nico Yennaris will be handed a fitness test after missing Saturday's 1-0 defeat by Bournemouth with a back injury.

New striker Scott Hogan is not ready to make his debut due to an ankle problem and winger Sam Saunders remains sidelined by a knee injury.
