The Barcelona defender lashed out at the conclusion of what has been a miserable World Cup campaign for Vicente Del Bosque's men
Spain's World Cup campaign may have ended with a win but there was little post-match goodwill from full-back Jordi Alba after he threatened to "cut off" the head of a journalist.
The Barcelona defender played the full 90 minutes of the 3-0 defeat of Australia on Monday, a result which did little to mask the disappointment of a poor tournament for the defending champions.
On entering the mixed zone after the game, Alba was not in the mood for pleasantries.
Already renowned as a player who has little time for the media, Alba singled out a journalist from the AS newspaper and said: 'Next time I am going to cut your head off.'
It was not immediately apparent why the threat was made.
