LEAD IN: US Olympic Committee CEO Scott Blackmun and Patrick Sandusky, Chief External Affairs Officer said on Sunday (21st August) that further action can be expected in the matter of 12-time swimming medallist Ryan Lochte and his three teammates and their account of a robbery that overshadowed the Games.

"We did have the one regretful incident with our swimmers. I think we've said enough about that, I think that we all understand that they let down our athletes, they let down Americans and they really let down our hosts in Rio, who did such a wonderful job and we feel very badly about that."

"Four athletes come to you and say 'this is what's happened', we don't have any other reason not to believe them. I think as it evolved over time, as we learned more, as the world learned more, our statement certainly changed and I think that, you know, post this Games, as Scott (Blackmun) described we'll continue to address that.

"We interviewed them with our chief of security, former Secret Service officer, as well as the Department of State. Each of those athletes told us pretty much exactly the same story in a very calm environment and whether that was that crime or another crime I don't think either we would have the right or frankly the ability to launch investigations into athlete's statements.
