Four members of the United States' all-conquering swimming squad reflected about their achievements at the Rio Olympics.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Ryan Murphy, US three-time Olympic swimming champion, 2016: (on being part of the US gold medal-winning team alongside Michael Phelps)
"I mean, that was my first relay with Michael and now I guess that was his last race, so he says and I know my adrenaline was through the roof before that. You know, just given the energy and the atmosphere like you were saying but also just wanting to have Michael go out on top. But you know I think relay was just kind of the perfect way to cap off that meet for us. I don't think we lost a close race throughout the meet. I swear, every single time there is a touch, we were getting our hands on the wall first. I think that goes back to the culture of the team and the unity that we had throughout our training camps and during this meet."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Nathan Adrian, US 4x100 metres medley relay gold medallist:
"One of the really special things for me coming out of this is how much the Brazilian crowd adopted Team USA and actually I think the same thing happened in London which I felt was really special and to have it happen here again, it's just so cool. Michael (Phelps) is a huge part of that you know. The volunteers come up to you before your race and say "go USA", they smile and they shake you hand and that's very special. I don't know, that energy kind of feeds into what we do and I know it gives me a little extra something at the end of the race there when I turn. Just to be able to be trusted with the position to end that relay, I just love it."
