"First of all I just looked up, looked around, and it was a packed house, and with all that I've been through, and for them to show up on a night like tonight and show me that type of love it's something that I'll never forget it was overwhelming."

"Yeah, umm, it's the only job I've had for 22 years and I've been going at it since I was 15 years old pretty hard, with all the things that I've been through Joe, and to have an ending like tonight, I don't know what else a man can ask for so I'm extremely thankful for everything the Steinbrenners and especially what the fans did for me tonight."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees Designated Hitter (what does he think his legacy will be?)
"That question has been asked a lot this week and legacy is not for me to determine I know that I'm someone who loves the game tremendously and have made some tremendous mistakes I've also worked extremely hard at trying to come back and do things the right way and mend all types of relationships, and it was extremely uncomfortable making some of the phone calls that I had to make but if you look at the 22 years, to have this type of ending the last two years is what I'm most proud of and is what I'm most gonna remember."
