Postgame reaction after the American League (AL) beat the National League (NL) 4-2 in Major League Baseball's (MLB) annual All-Star game on Tuesday (12 July) at Petco Park in San Diego, California.
SOUNDBITE (English): Terry Collins, New York Mets Manager
(On game)
"I don't know. It's baseball. I really don't care who, what the name on the front of the shirt says. Tonight certainly (Eric) Hosmer did what he did to us in the World Series. He got a big hits when they needed a big hit. Same with (Salvador) Perez. So, I thought it was a great game. I thought it was a good game."
SOUNDBITE (English): Ned Yost, Kansas City Royals Manager
(On play of Eric Hosmer and Salvador Perez)
"You have to be able to execute. And I was so proud of Hos (Eric Hosmer) when he hit that ball and then Salvi (Salvador Perez) when he hit it. I mean I felt like a proud papa there in the second inning after those two guys gave us the lead, and I was really excited. And it's been a long time since I've been that proud of two players in a moment like that, and that was really special for me."
SOUNDBITE (English): Eric Hosmer, Kansas City Royals First Baseman
(On being named game's Most Valuable Player)
"It's a great feeling. It's extremely humbling. Honestly I was just so happy to be a part of all this and to be part of the team and make the All-Star Game for the first time. I never thought about going out trying to be the MVP (Most Valuable Player). I just wanted to soak up the whole experience, and it's everything and more you could every ask for. I couldn't thank the city of San Diego enough. It was unbelievable. They did an unbelievable job of hosting the game here. Just everything about the whole experience especially for my first time was a dream come true."
