Team GB Katherine Grainger and Vicky Thornley talked about their silver medal in the double sculls event.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Katherine Grainger, double sculls rower:
"The race is all a bit of a blur still, it was tricky conditions, it was quite challenging out there. We thought it was going to be very very close across all six lanes, in the end it didn't really work out, but we put ourselves in the best possible position we could, and it was always the pan to. I've a done a few Olympic finals now and special things happen in an Olympic final and I wanted just to put ourselves in the best possible place. We just ran out a little bit at the end there, but I'm still proud, because I would far rather we did that and not quite make it than never put ourselves in that position."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Katherine Grainger, double sculls rower:
"All these amazing things take a while to sink in to be honest, I think I really, really, really didn't want to leave my fifth Olympic Games without a fifth Olympic medal, that was a big thing for me, a bid driving factor, and everything I do. And for Vicky as well, it was her first Olympic medal and she absolutely deserves one, and she is a good enough athlete to geed one. So we both were very motivated to get a medal, and then to be told that that makes me, at the moment, the most decorated female athlete, you know, you don't start off your Olympic career imagining this would ever happen to you. I'm just very proud and very happy, but those five medals all came with other people, so my success is spread among so many wonderful people throughout my whole career, and I will go and have a drink with each and everyone of them to celebrate this moment."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Vicky Thornley, double sculls rower:
"The races we've done have been not the best races we've done in our partnership together, and the one today, we knew we were capable of something like that, but we hadn't seen it yet, and so it was great that it came out on the day that it needed to and we wanted to. But the talent we had in the boat, we definitely knew that the boat could go faster, it was frustrating at the time when it wasn't, but I think we showed today that there was that capability in this boat."
