SOUNDBITE (English): A.J. Hinch, Houston Astros Manager:
"There's no doubt the first inning set the tone and gave our team a little bit of an exhale. You come into an environment like this, you've got the defending American League champions. It's a packed house of a lot of blue out there, and it's not our colour blue. There were some Astros fans, but it was very dominant Royals fans. To put up five quality at-bats in the first inning and get two runs, that's sort of announcing your presence there. I loved how our team came out and did that."
SOUNDBITE (English): Collin McHugh, Houston Astros Pitcher, on Jake Marisnick's fifth inning catch:
"It's huge. These guys have been doing this all season. I try not to take it for granted, but you kind of expect them to make the plays. George (Springer) in right field, Marisnick, whoever is playing center, Marisnick, (Carlos) Gomez, (Colby) Rasmus. When balls are hit, I just expect them to make the plays. They've come through in a lot of clutch situations for me this year behind me, and none bigger than today with Marisnick for sure."
SOUNDBITE (English): Ned Yost, Kansas City Royals Manager:
"Really, we could not get any type of rally going. We got little mini rallies going, but we couldn't sustain them. (Collin McHugh) just made pitches and kept us off balance with his off-speed stuff, commanded his ball well, and after sitting for an hour, my hope was maybe he'd stiffen up a little bit. But, no, he came back just as sharp as he was in the first two innings."
SOUNDBITE (English): Ned Yost, Kansas City Royals Manager:
"You take it day by day. It's a five-game series. The first team to win three is going to be the winner. It's not a death sentence to lose Game 1."
