American pair Christina Jones and Bill May took the gold medal in the new mixed duet technical synchronised swimming on day two of the World Championships.
They scored a total of 88.5108 points for their energetic routine, in front of the pro-Russian crowd at Kazan Arena in Russia..
Aleksandr Maltsev and Darina Valitova took silver for the host nation, while Italians Manila Flamini and Giorgio Minisini earned bronze.
Mexico and Russia failed to prevent Chinese pair Chen Aisen and Lin Yue winning the men's 10-metre synchronized platform.
A score of 495.72 points sealing the gold medal, nearly 50 points ahead of Mexico who took silver, and Russia with bronze.
But the home crowd would have something to cheer for in the women's duet technical synchronized swimming.
Huang Xuechen and Sun Wenyan of China claiming the silver medal, with Yukiko Inui and Risako Mitsui of Japan taking bronze.
Gold was awarded to Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina with 95.4672 points, sending the Kazan crowd home happy.
